Optimax was proud to participate in a career fair for the second-grade students at Palmyra-Macedon Elementary School in January. Optician Mike Pomerantz, pictured here, used the optics suitcase supplied by the Optics Society of America Rochester Section to educate the students on science, math and engineering careers that are available.
Students were able to have hands on interaction with the experiments that included a liquid crystal paper (showing temperature changes), rubber balls that look the same, but only one bounces, and a large lens showing how magnifying glasses work.
Approximately 40 students participated in the event. After the career fair, numerous students indicated that they want to be engineers or scientists when they grow up.
