Irondequoit students observe high-tech manufacturing jobs

It takes only a quick glance around the factory floors at Optimax and OptiPro, two optics companies in Wayne County, to recognize this is not your father’s manufacturing.

Fortunately, the West Irondequoit students who came on a tour last week aren’t your father’s factory workers.

Middle and high school students in the district are learning about advanced manufacturing around Rochester through a grant-funded program that gives science and math-inclined students who aren’t sure about college a look at a valuable career path.
